Gardiner Street, North Melbourne

Gardiner Street is a proposed development of eight townhouses. The site has street frontage on three sides within an historic warehouse precinct. From the site there are views to the south of the central business district.
Each townhouse comprises a ground floor multi-purpose space and bedroom with another level of bedrooms above. The top two levels include living spaces and associated balconies. Roof terraces capitalise on the potential views from the site.
The development incorporates heavily banded brickwork to the ground and first floors. This relates to the surrounding context in terms of material and scale whilst providing a strong identity to the development. Above, dark metal cladding is utilised as a contrasting, recessive element. The generous use of planter boxes and trellising softens the façade and reintroduces nature within the hard streetscape
